Rostro Esperanza was commissioned in 2021 by the Corporación Cultural de La Florida during the pandemic and vaccination campaign. The work formed part of a memorial space installed at Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida.

Approximately 925 reused photographic cartridges, arranged in black, gray, and white, compose the smiling face of an older woman. Up close, the image breaks into a grid of discarded objects; from a distance, the modules form a portrait associated with hope, care, and the memory of a collective experience.

TECHNICAL SHEET

Code: RESP_CAPI_0001

Materials: Approximately 925 reused photographic cartridges
Dimensions: 2.5 × 2.0 m

CONCEPTUAL READING

The work brings together two forms of memory: the human portrait and the obsolete photographic medium. Cartridges once manufactured to produce images become material pixels, connecting technological waste, public-health crisis, and the need to recompose a shared image.
