Papelucho
Sculpture, childhood, and Chilean popular memory
Papelucho is a 2022 sculpture based on the character from Chilean children's literature. The figure holds a pencil and notebook, attributes associated with writing, imagination, and everyday experience narrated from childhood.
The work was commissioned by the Corporación Cultural de La Florida and managed by Mauricio Bascuñán. It is the first completed piece in pugliEGGSe, a projected sculptural line for reinterpreting recognizable characters from popular culture. No other works in that line have yet been completed.
