Infected Paintings

Saturation and contamination in the pictorial language

Infected Paintings: mixed media with erosion and contaminating elements
The Saturation / The Plague / Infected Paintings / Traditional supports / Productions: Series S/T, oil and plastics on canvas, 45 x 65 cm each, 2008.

Infected Paintings explores the saturation and contamination of the contemporary landscape through a hybrid pictorial language. Painting collides with residual materials from consumer culture: plastic caps, packaging, printed paper, industrial PVC, discarded advertising tarps and recycled supports.

The series treats the pictorial surface as a body affected by external agents. Skin, territory and painting become parallel surfaces: noble or natural fields invaded by industrial remains, advertising fragments and symptoms of ecological degradation.

The work develops through two main lines: interventions on traditional supports, where waste alters the academic field of painting; and soft or pre-contaminated supports, where the material already carries traces of use, circulation and discard.
